During the summer of 2022, we were guests of an event organized by the Italian Rett Association (AIRETT) in Siena. Here we worked and had a great time with Erica, Giulia and other girls and boys with Rett syndrome and their families. During the event we had music therapy sessions, playing live music and established a first relationship with the girls. Our rhythm-movement approach (inside and outside the water) uses sensory systems as a filter for the girls' experience. Despite the complexity of their pathology, our young participants welcomed our proposals with enthusiasm, allowing us to collect useful observations on the response of these patients to the Swim'n'Swing method. One of our dreams for the near future is to develop a specific therapy for this clinical population. Rett syndrome, in fact, is a severe pathology that significantly impacts the sensory-motor and intellectual dimensions. Our method is proposed as a therapeutic opportunity to increase the interpersonal connections of these girls and boys and facilitate their movements.
