The second edition of the Swim'n'Swing event returned to Iglesias, enriched by new guests and team members. Welcomed as always with great enthusiasm by the public, the event combined music, sport and science, the whole bonded together by inclusion and enhancement of the territory. On September 16th in the Iglesias Cultural Center hall we held a conference entitled “Between rhythm, water and science”. Guests of the event were Olympic athletes and their coaches, such as Filippo Magnini (twice Olympic gold), Alessandro Miressi (Olympic silver and bronze, world champion of the 100m freestyle in short course and medley relay) and Claudio Rossetto (coach of the Italian national swimming team); Harvard Medical School professors and researchers such as Michela Fagiolini Ph.D., Francesca Bardi M.D. and Francesca Cavicchiolo. We were fortunate to have with us also some of the most illustrious Italian neuroscientists including Lamberto Maffei (director of the Institute of Neuroscience of the CNR and president of the national academy of Lincei); world-renowned musicians including Saturnino Celani (bassist and composer for Battiato and Jovanotti), Massimo Moriconi (bassist who counts Mina and Chet Baker among his collaborations) and Emilia Zamuner (Jazz singer). The second day was spent with a practical demonstration at the Antares sports center in Iglesias. In the morning there were music therapy and rhythmic education workshops, while in the afternoon the swimmers dived in and swam at the rhythm of the great music played by our team on the pool deck.
